Plan Sponsors May Soon Need Independent Investment Advisors
Did you know that businesses may soon be REQUIRED to hire independent investment advisers to counsel retirement plan participants? Rep. George Miller (D-CA) has introduced H.R. 2989, the 401(k) Fair Disclosure and Pension Security Act of 2009, which includes a provision that would command businesses to do just that.
If your company-sponsored retirement plan is required to hire an independent investment adviser, who will you choose? Certainly, you will look for an adviser with experience – but experience is not enough. You need an adviser who is also a superb communicator and educator, one who understands the psychological and motivational factors that influence employee participation in retirement plans.
Even if this new proposed legislation doesn't become law, your employees want and need to plan for a secure retirement – and they need to understand the value of what you are offering.
I would like to become that experienced, trusted advisor your employees can turn to, and have a chance to reacquaint them or reintroduce them to the importance of retirement planning. Maybe your company is looking for a "change of plans" itself. I invite you to call me at 503-603-9900 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I would like to use my experience and resources to serve your business and your employees.
